Job Description:

• Prepare designs, sketches and reports with supporting calculations for projects, and supply drafting staff with information to assist in the production of detailed drawings, the development of quantities, materials lists and cost estimates as required

What you’ll do

• Process, manage, and develop design drawings and documentation for all commercial projects within designated data centres, supporting other data centres in the region as needed.

• Assist the Platform Engineering team in producing contract drawings for Pre-Sales support and deliver them to the Sales team as part of contract documentation.

• Assess power, cooling, and square meter availability during the Initial Quote phase.

• Create technical designs for customer lifecycle activities (new and existing) and amendments, ensuring customer requirements and design artefacts are completed within agreed parameters.

• Generate a Technical Handover document, including CAD layouts, customer rack layouts, floor plans, and Bill of Materials for installations.

• Ensure adherence to the Whitespace Design and Engineering Guidelines, following corporate principles related to power, cooling, and space standardization.

• Create Work Orders to instruct Implementation Managers, remote hands, and vendors on task execution according to solution design.

• Manage all design activities related to customer lifecycle orders, including MACDs and partial/full terminations.

• Update facility floor plans using AutoCAD and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software.

• Maintain inventory systems (e.g., FNT, OpsView) for Space and Power, ensuring data integrity.

• Update connectivity and cable records using DCIM software.

• Update customer power circuit records within company DCIM software.

• Follow QHSSE responsibilities and support audits at DLR sites, ensuring data accuracy and resolution of issues.

• Handle administrative and documentation responsibilities within the Platform Engineering team.

• Determine cooling limits based on customer opportunity density and perform CFD analysis when needed.

• Coordinate with Capacity Planning for space, power, and connectivity capacity to support new customer transactions.

• Manage space in ROFR/ROFO areas in collaboration with the commercial management team.

• Assist Solution Engineers with pre-sales technical inquiries and design activities.

• Participate in training, workshops, and self-learning to enhance relevant skills.

• Support regional initiatives and collaborate within cross-functional teams.

• Engage with customers to support Sales and Solutions Engineers as needed.

What you’ll need

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical or mechanical.

• Significant engineering experience in mission-critical environments, ideally including data centers.

• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD (ACAD).

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Visio, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Explorer) or equivalent.

• Experience in data centre design, critical infrastructure management, and data centre environment awareness.

• Electrical, Mechanical, Network, or Operational data centre experience is a plus.
