We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Collection Specialist to support a 3-month project focused on gathering and documenting key operational data related to extrusion and injection molding processes, to support building data foundation for a next-generation AI model that predicts colour outcomes in polymer processing. The ideal candidate will work closely with project team at the centre of that effort-hands-on with the machines, the formulations, and supporting the early modelling work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Collection & Monitoring:
- Record real-time process parameters from extrusion and injection molding machines.
- Track material usage, batch numbers, and feedstock characteristics.
- Perform sample measurement.
- Enter data into spreadsheets (Excel), databases, or specialized software.
- Verify accuracy by cross-referencing with production logs and sensor outputs.
- Flag inconsistencies or anomalies for engineering review.
- Work with project team and tech lead to clarify process variables.
- Generate weekly summaries of trends, deviations, and key findings.
- Assist in preparing reports for process optimization initiatives.
• Background on Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with extrusion/injection molding processes (or similar manufacturing environments).
• Prior data collection, quality control, or machine operation experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, tables, basic analysis).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow protocols and work independently.
Work Conditions:
• Primarily in a manufacturing lab environment (PPE required).
Project Deliverables:

- Work with market analysts to improve the accuracy of supply and demand models and forecasts for short and medium terms.

Job Description :
This is a key role in the provision of copper market intelligence that drives commercial decision making by capturing insights, utilising data and information gathered from the industry or service providers. Analysis and forecasting of industry/sector trends and market outlook, identifying opportunities and threats, with the objective of promoting views and ideas to support the origination, trading and sales teams, executive management in Anglo American Marketing and the wider organisation.

Key Tasks:

- Conduct monthly and quarterly market analysis used as an input to the quarterly market forecasts, weekly reports, daily internal notes and ad hoc reports and internal studies. Demonstrating independent management of these processes and tasks. Generating topical reports based on personal initiative and observations. Communicating and presenting the results.
- Supply chain and cost curve analysis.
- Track and forecast key demand drivers across end-use sectors (e.g., energy transition, EVs, infrastructure) and evaluate implications for copper consumption and pricing
- Support the identification and assessment of third-party trading and sourcing & origination targets. Track and contribute to successful interactions and negotiations.
- Providing in-depth sector analysis to assist with customer discovery and strategic initiatives, supplemented by site visits where appropriate. Involvement in planning and leading visits to gain ‘on the ground’ insights.
- Attending relevant conferences and industry events. Contributing to industry events.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Develop key relationships across the Copper value chain, covering copper producers and consumers, downstream material producers, traders and banks
What we’re looking for
- Knowledge of commodity markets (previous copper, molybdenum and nickel experience preferred) and ability to build an industry network.
- Able to marry macro-economic context with micro-market analysis to identify the most important drivers of price and commercial variables over short- and medium-term horizons.
- Knowledge and ability to distil complex market data into succinct reports and presentations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current quantitative and qualitative marketing research methodologies.
- Familiarity with broad scanning techniques to interpret trends, research competitor activity and market conditions; develops and implements solutions to realise market potential and optimise opportunities for the Marketing Business Unit.
- High degree of numerical capability, as required, including ‘technical analysis’. Highly developed modelling capabilities.
- Strong computer literacy (especially Excel).
- Confident research skills with an inquisitive and broad scanning approach – able to ask insightful and probing questions to get to the bottom of a situation or problem.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the flexibility to tailor that to the specific needs and requirements of the audience.
- Commercial and business acumen – ability to build understanding of sales and marketing fundamentals.
- Knowledge of financial and futures markets beneficial.
