The Opportunity
In This Role You Will
Build project schedules encompassing full project scope, milestones and timelines, using critical plan methodology
Ensure clear responsibility and ownership for all project outcomes is defined via Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) methodology
Ensure schedule adheres to the project execution plan and in particular contracting, procurement and project control strategy documents and plans
Ensure there is a clear method in place for baselining of schedules and manage periodic updates
Manage the fully integrated project schedule and structure it to allow review at a range of levels and details
Negotiate and mediate timelines and project interdependencies between key partners for a great client outcome
Provide regular updates on schedule progress
Review external schedules to ensure that they are compiled using scheduling best practices

Have experience in scheduling/planning for large-scale, complex projects (ideally data center or pharmaceutical builds)
Have demonstrated quantitative risk assessment (QRA) experience, and expertly interpret and communicate findings to key partners
Have working experience using Primavera P6 planning software to build your schedule
Are detail oriented and quality focused

Academic Background: Diploma or degree in Building, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a closely related field.

Technical Competency: Understanding of construction methods, local authority submission requirements (BP, TOP, CSC), and site safety compliance.

You will own the development the Amazon specific rate library, create cost database and benchmarking tool for projects across countries in the Asia Pacific region. You will be the key person in developing the BIM model estimating system to increase the estimating efficiency and accuracy. You will lead the effort to reverse-engineer unit prices at both high-level and detailed levels, broken down by trade and major categories, drive the value engineering conversations. In addition, you will support complex, cross-functional initiatives and programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivering impactful results. This will involve close collaboration with Preconstruction Managers, Construction Managers, as well as teams from Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence, Procurement, and other key partners. This role demands a proactive leader with exceptional organizational skills, a deep understanding of construction costs in industry, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Take the ownership of the developing the cost planning and estimating system for the preconstruction stage.
  • Take ownership of construction cost data from various sources to support future budget development and benchmarking.
  • Review, validate, and standardize construction cost data by building types and attributes, ensuring it's ready for efficient budget development.
  • Analyze cost data to develop unit prices and Amazon specific rate library based on take-offs, historical costs and market data.
  • Research and analyze construction cost trends through published sources, local market conditions, and studies to forecast construction costs for medium- and long-term planning.

A day in the life

You will use data and anecdotes to tactically drive internal customers to manage project risks (time, cost, quality and safety). You will apply your knowledge and experience to identify and develop dashboard reporting to provide the visibility to peers and the leadership to drive better business outcomes. You need to have the backbone to use the data to tell the business "This is what the data is telling us, and this is how it is done" and develop solutions that enable our Construction Managers to enforce the effective project control with their General Contractors and vendors.

About the team

Our Data Center Pre-Construction team owns and drives the process for program, cost, constructability, procurement and delivery strategies, bid analysis through to contract award.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant experience within industry
  • Experience in End-to-End Cost Planning and Cost Management from feasibility, concept, budget, tender, cost control and final account for ground-up commercial construction projects.
  • Proven track record of creating and releasing high-quality, consistent documentation for processes, standards, and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure or large-scale mechanical and electrical plants

  3. Manage project(s) to enhance site management and operational challenges e.g. inefficiencies etc in operational and site management processes.
  4. Drive collaboration to enhance site management and operations procedures, facilitate consensus building amongst stakeholders whenever there are differing requirements and track the contractual performance of respective site management contractors.
  5. Conduct site inspections to identify aeas for improvement in safety, security, maintenance, or operations.
  6. Any other duties and responsibilities assigned to fulfil the site management function.

Job Requirements:

  1. Degree in any discipline (preferably in Facilities/Building Management, Civil Engineering, Avation Ground Operations, Construction Projects etc) with at least 1-3 years of relevant working experience in larger scale projects preferred.
  2. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken,  with proven ability to facilitation collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  3. Self-driven and meticulous with the ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
