Description
The company is engaged in global trading, dealing in products ranging from petroluem to raw materials such as coal and steel. Due to expansion, they are currently hiring an Iron Ore Trader in Singapore to manage and grow the business.

Role
Reporting to the Head of Iron Ore, the trader involves sourcing and securing iron ore contracts from global producers, suppliers, and consumers while managing the entire trading process, including procurement, pricing, logistics, transportation, and delivery. He/she will negotiate favorable contract terms, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, and monitor market trends, supply-demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors to guide trading decisions. Additionally, He/she will oversee inventory management, ensure efficient material movement across regions, and coordinate with internal teams such as logistics, operations, and finance for smooth, timely transactions. He/she will also analyze risk exposure, implement strategies to mitigate disruptions, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.

Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Economics or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in bulk trading. Experience in Iron Ore/Coking Coal is a plus. You will have strong knowledge of global iron ore markets, trade flows, pricing mechanisms, and logistics, along with expertise in managing complex physical trades, including international shipping and regulatory considerations. Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills are essential, as well as strong analytical abilities to assess market conditions, price fluctuations, and supply chain dynamics. The ability to manage risk and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, volatile market is crucial. Proficiency in trade finance and a solid understanding of key financial instruments related to physical trading are required. Fluency in English is necessary for communicating with international counterparties.

Our client, a leading player in the energy trading sector, is seeking a Senior Market Risk Analyst to join their growing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and strengthen the market and credit risk function, supporting both physical and paper trading activities across global markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of market risk management strategies for both physical and derivatives trading activities.
• Supervise daily P&L analysis and ensure proper alignment between physical and hedging trades.
• Review and validate daily statements from trading agents and ensure accuracy of margin call calculations.
• Conduct and oversee credit risk assessments for both new and existing counterparties, including reviewing financial statements and setting credit terms.
• Approve credit limit proposals and recommend appropriate payment structures in line with company policy.
• Monitor compliance with internal credit and risk frameworks, suggesting improvements where necessary.

Job Description:

• Prepare and negotiate the terms & conditions for Sales & Purchase Contract
• Liaise with suppliers, buyers, surveyors, bankers, ship owners/brokers, ship/cargo agents and insurance broker
• Monitoring and manage operations functions such as logistic (liaising with terminals, vessel operator, cargo surveyors, agents and customers on oil loading/discharging operations)
• Pro-active management and recovery of demurrage, oil loss and insurance claims
• Knowledge on trade finance transactions (ILC, TR, freight loan, ELC discounting) will be an advantage
