Responsibilities:
- Perform histological testing encompassing sample accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and re-embedding of tissue specimens.
- Perform routine H&E stain, special stains as well as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in-situ hybridization (ISH) stains according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform slide scanning and macrodissection as required according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Evaluate sample acceptability based on established guidelines and process specimens for analysis in accordance with established written procedures.
- Accurately evaluate test results according to standardized protocols.
- Maintain quality control measures during testing to ensure compliance with established quality standards. Document corrective and preventative actions with good documentation practices.
- Maintain overview of reagent inventory.
- Assist in the proper maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment in line with manufacturer specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in internal and external quality assessment as required.
- Comply with good laboratory practices for all procedures in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a biomedical or biological science from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in a clinical histology laboratory will be preferred.
- Good analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Able to work independently as well as a good team player with initiative and adaptability to change.

SUMMARY
• Analysis & Reporting. Perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately, following established procedures; recognize deviation from expected results, analyze and correct problems using scientific principles; complete QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs and pending lists daily.
• Training & Development. Assist with training new personnel on responsibilities in the laboratory; evaluate progress of training; make recommendations for training methods and content.
• Evaluation. Continuously assess work processes and make suggestions for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; monitor departmental reagent inventories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process the daily workload in close collaboration with colleagues.
- Perform and authorise maintenance, calibration and quality control as well as routine analysis.
- Be able to deal with interruption and be able to prioritise tasks appropriately.
- Be able to use the laboratory IT system to enter/validate results and to look up previous results, to generate worklists, and to enter data results.
- Participate in internal and external quality assessment as required.
- Assist in the testing and assessment of new equipment and introduction of new techniques and assays.
- Assist in other laboratory areas, including sample reception and sample storage as required.
- Participate fully in the general housekeeping of the laboratory, including counting stock, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
- Participate in all activities which seek to ensure compliance with GCP guidelines and CAP accreditation.

Working with the Laboratory business Office to perform a variety of Laboratory Test while rotating through various sections delivering accurate, reliable and precise test results in prompt and efficient manner which assists the physicians in patient diagnosis.
Key accountabilities- Performs routine test procedures, automated or manual, in the laboratory with little direct supervision.

- Supports flexible staffing requirements in the department and participates in shift duties.
- Complies with all regulatory guidelines, participating in CAP proficiency testing, National proficiency testing and inter Hospital QA programs.
- Participates in a routine maintenance program for instruments and in on-going CME and professional devt programs.
- Develops rapport with all the Laboratory Staffs as well with other Hospital departments.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time by management.
- Recognised diploma or certificate in medical Laboratory technology, or recognised Bachelor of Science degree or polytechnic Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferably, at least 1 year experience in related medical laboratory
- Flexible in shift works, weekends and public holidays.

- Responsible to perform, depending on the section posted, a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory with little direct supervision by a senior staff
- Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting of patient samples.
- Routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of various samples
- Routine haematology and blood bank procedures
- Follows Laboratory policy for registration, billing, identification, processing, reporting, result retrieval and record/specimen keeping.
