About this Role
We are seeking a diligent and skilled Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of Craft & Technology special rooms, including D&T workshops, Design & Art studios, and Kitchen Labs
- Conduct scheduled thorough cleaning and organisation of these areas termly
- Assist with daily preparation tasks to ensure smooth delivery of lessons in the Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) unit
- Work with NFS teachers to prepare food ingredients and necessary crockery/equipment for practical sessions
- Monitor stock of food ingredients and alert NFS teachers to replenish stock when required
- Maintain high levels of hygiene during food preparation and throughout kitchen labs
- Support the Staff Engagement Committee in preparing light meals, desserts, snacks, and packing staff welfare items
- Maintain inventory of food ingredients and ensure they are organised and properly stored
- Clean and disinfect kitchen labs at the end of each lesson
- Ensure safety compliance within kitchen labs and operating of basic kitchen equipment
- Carry out washing of aprons, school table cloth, etc., when required
- Perform any other duties assigned by School Management
Requirements
- Completed Food Safety Course Level 1
- Able to cook light meals, desserts, and snacks
- Able to read and converse in English
- Good interpersonal skills
- Pleasant disposition
- Experience working with secondary school students
- Desirable experience working as a kitchen assistant in a school environment or commercial kitchen setting
