The Edge Capacity Planning team drives the strategy, planning, and operations behind TikTok’s edge data center, PoPs (Points of Presence), and network infrastructure. The team is responsible for planning TikTok's global infrastructure capacities and managing the full lifecycle of resources across computing, storage, and networking. We align infrastructure growth with business expansion, manage the lifecycle of CDN and edge sites, and coordinate with partner teams to ensure edge sites meet performance, reliability, and scalability targets while maintaining cost efficiency. Responsibilities
Drive strategic capacity planning initiatives for TikTok’s global edge and CDN infrastructure, from forecast to execution.
Analyze traffic growth trends, user demand, and business forecasts to synthesize future capacity needs at edge locations.
Support TOB and TOC users' onboarding and mass deployment alongside product and engineering teams. Gain deep knowledge of their unique resource profiles and produce a bespoke resource fulfillment plan.
Partner with product, engineering, network, supply chain, and regional edge strategy teams to develop and maintain a rolling build plan aligned with users' growth, product roadmap, and business cost competitiveness.
Work closely with third-party providers and the commercial team to evaluate their capability and cost competitiveness to facilitate vendor selection in a hybrid setting.
Produce business requirements with a defined SLA for the partner teams' network, strategy, supply chain, delivery and third-party providers to get their proposal with TCO.
Influence long-term infrastructure roadmap, identifying opportunities to optimize cost, resiliency, and deployment velocity.
Lead quarterly and annual planning cycles; present capacity strategies and updates to cross-functional leadership.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
At least 3 years of experience in infrastructure capacity planning, technical program management, or large-scale deployment operations.
Knowledge of IP networking, routing, server hardware, compute, and storage.
Understanding of datacenter infrastructure, CDN or edge architecture, and global deployment strategies.
Strong organizational and communication skills with experience driving alignment across cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable plans.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity, setting strategic direction, and managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading capacity planning for a large-scale cloud, CDN, or hyperscale environment.
Knowledge of interconnect.
Familiarity with hardware lifecycle management, global site expansion, and vendor coordination.
Knowledge of infrastructure financial planning, TCO modeling, and supply chain constraints.
Executive-level communication skills; able to present insights and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders.
Experience working across international teams and understanding region-specific infrastructure considerations.
