Key job responsibilities
- Manage the interconnection of AWS data centers in the region to the electric grid by working with utilities and local authorities to ensure on time, on budget and to specifications MV & HV transmission works & substation delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Planning, Real estate, Design, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Finance & Commissioning teams to coordinate project activities and resolve any issues that may arise during project execution.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, including progress reports, financial updates, region strategy documents and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including power utilities, regulators, suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
- Undertake power due diligence for new or proposed data center sites to check power availability and feasibility.
- Interface with power utilities and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals and permits for project implementation.
- Managing utility contracts/retail agreements - entering into connection agreement; contracting the right capacity to optimize on power purchase costs.
- Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objective.
- Study, understand and have view on regional power infrastructure network and utility planning and changes to the broader power infrastructure.
- Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure improvements.
- Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to power infrastructure and supply.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field.
- 4 plus years working in utility/renewables/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role.

Job Summary


Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to provide subject matter expertise around technical infrastructure in developing shared service platforms and infrastructure solutions.

Mandatory Skill-set

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronics Engineering or Information Technology;
  • At least 8 years of working experience in architect design capabilities in managing, maintaining and supporting IT infrastructure for both on premise and Cloud workloads;
  • Must have strong background in running PaaS products, Infrastructure Operations, or Site Reliability Engineering;
  • Experience with cloud-native and cloud-agnostic implementations;
  • Experience in developing and maintain shared service platforms and infrastructure solutions;
  • Technical expertise in the area of Infrastructure Services such as Infrastructure Management, Cloud Computing and DevOps Engineering concepts;
  • Knowledge on Agile methodology and DevOps to Infrastructure-as-Code;
  • Strong knowledge in Cloud Computing ( AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) , Web infrastructure security and compliance;
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes, Pulumi, Golang, TypeScript, and Python;
  • Should have both project experience (deployment of servers) and operation experience (incident and change management);
  • Able to drive team to work together to resolve complex issues by sharing in-depth knowledge and experience;
  • Strong team player, effective at communicating internationally and used to working closely with remote teams;
  • Independent and able to manage projects, vendors and stakeholders with strong customer facing and communication skill.

Desired Skill-set

  • Certification in Architecture, DevOps/System Administration;
  • Cloud Certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solution Architect - Associate, Microsoft Azure Architect Design, Google Associate Cloud Engineer).

Responsibilities

  • Part of the infrastructure team to upkeep, strengthen and build new infrastructure services, in tandem with ongoing or new cloud and digital adoption goals;
  • Drive, monitor and oversee Application Infrastructure services and assign resources to ensure smooth operations;
  • Review, support and endorse infrastructure architecture, infrastructure resource planning, infrastructure performance and system hosting environment focusing in supporting PaaS products;
  • Provide project security advisory and ensure overall compliance to security policies in the areas of Security Acceptance Tests, Vulnerability Assessments, Penetration Tests and Security Audits;
  • As the Project Lead - accountable for the timely and smooth execution of the digital projects by providing periodic updates to management;
  • Collaborate with other services teams to facilitate and deliver sector-wide application services.
