Role Summary:

The Automation Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical oversight, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment within the Rapid API system. This role ensures reliable and precise operations, develops staff expertise, and enhances site capabilities to support both R&D and manufacturing objectives.

Rapid API is a next-generation robotic and programmable platform that automates end-to-end chemical processing — from precise material dispensing and intelligent reaction control to advanced real-time analytics. By integrating robotics, programming, and smart data systems, it delivers reproducibility, ensures compliance, and accelerates API development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Build & Commissioning

• Assemble, install, and commission new equipment within the Rapid API system.
• Integrate automation and robotic modules with control platforms (Lab-to-Lab) to ensure seamless operation and data connectivity.
• Configure automated workflows for precise material handling, reaction control, and real-time monitoring.

2. Troubleshooting & Maintenance

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, monitoring equipment performance to maximize reliability and efficiency.

3. Process Support & Operations

• Provide technical support for DOE (Design of Experiments) and process campaigns with accuracy and consistency.
• Ensure all operations adhere to GMP, safety, and quality standards.

4. Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Train staff on advanced equipment operation and best practices.
• Develop and sustain internal technical expertise to strengthen overall site capabilities.

Impact & Collaboration

• Advance plant capabilities and promote operational excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support scale-up, technology transfer, and R&D initiatives, driving innovation, reproducibility, and accelerated API development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support in installation and configuration works of Foxboro control software on Virtual Host and Workstations.
• Support Lead engineer in application migration to the Virtual envronment
• Support in Installation and configuration of Cybersecurity software on DCS platform.
• Support in configuration of Ethernet Switches and Firewalls for the Foxboro DCS control network.
• Assist Lead Engineer in preparation of technical documentation for Detailed Design and Testing.
• Assist LE in Pre Factory acceptance test and Customer Factory acceptance test , punch clearrance and sign off.
• Assist Lead Engineer in cyber security compliance for the staging facility

Competencies:

• Knowledge on migration of Foxboro HW ,SW and Database application from earlier versions to current
• Knowledge on setting up of the Foxboro Workstations with the Control Core and other operational softwares
• Knowledge on setting up of Cyber security SW for DCS such as antivirua Patch management (WSUS), Domain management
• Participate in Factory Acceptance test demonstrating various test cases
• Understand and support Technical documentation related to Foxboro Distributed Control System implemenation

Technical Skills:

• Hands on knowledge on Foxboro Distrbution control System (control Core services software)
• Database migration scripts specific to Foxboro DCS ( CP Sync DB, Import/Export, deployment, Save All, XML scripts)
• Foxboro Cyber security Domain Management and Patch management

As an Automation Systems Engineer, you will work directly with customers to define functional requirements and design, configure and implement control systems, software programs, electronic circuitry or packaging for products or systems.
Description of work:
Work in a team environment with engineers and designers from RoviSys, partners and clients to provide state of the art Control Systems to improve efficiency, product quality and profitability of process manufacturing.
Design Electrical Panels, Control Architecture, and wiring drawings.
Develop and build solutions using different industrial applications.
Development of P&ID documentation for process clients.
Define and implement Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)/Ladder Design, Distributed Control System (DCS) configuration to meet client needs.
Execute and lead services such as system upgrades, system support and routine maintenance.
Implementation of industrial application based on solution architect and technical lead's design.
Testing and on-site commissioning of control systems.
Support of process control clients at sites in Singapore and abroad.
May grow into position leading team of engineers and technicians to provide control system solutions for clients.
Control Systems knowledge:
Electrical design and Process Control fundamentals.
Familiar with Controllers, such as single loop control, PLC, DCS, DDC or PC based control.
Exposure to Control Theory and some process understanding is helpful but not required.
Platform knowledge in Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Emerson, DeltaV, etc.
Process understanding of batch or continuous process control, combustion control, etc.
Awareness of process safety, validation, and good documentation practices.
Programming languages: PLC ladder logic, Function Block, SFC VB.
Third party HMI/SCADA Software, i.e. Intellution, WonderWare, OSIsoft, etc.
Others: network design/administration.
Qualifications:
Self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and enjoy working with people.
B.S in Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
Process or Industrial experience is a plus.
