 The Humane League
The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food. THL fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. Over the past few years, we've grown to a staff of 100+ talented individuals dispersed around the world. At THL, how animals are treated in the food system is at the forefront of our everyday work. As such, many of our staff are vegan by personal choice, and all of our THL-hosted events offer fully vegan menus. We welcome all mission-aligned candidates to apply, no matter where you are in your journey to end the abuse of animals raised for food.
The Open Wing Alliance (OWA), a program of The Humane League, is a global coalition of approximately 90 animal protection organizations across 70+ countries united in a common goal: to end the abuse of chickens worldwide. For the past several years, we have focused our efforts on eliminating battery cages by securing cage-free policies from major retailers, restaurants, and manufacturers. OWA groups share tactics and resources to secure as many wins for animals as possible, specializing in institutional campaigning that can be tailored to our members' unique circumstances and challenges.
 The Role
As the OWA Asia-Pacific Membership Lead, you are responsible for supporting OWA member groups in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. This encompasses everything from recruitment and onboarding of new OWA groups, to liaising between THL staff and OWA members, to facilitating communication and collaboration across the region. The primary focus of this position is to strengthen the OWA in the Asia-Pacific region, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with partner organizations, and empower OWA member groups to advance institutional cage-free work in their countries. We are seeking a candidate with excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills who is excited to play an integral role in the success of the Open Wing Alliance. This position reports to the OWA Asia-Pacific Regional Manager.
This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires domestic and international travel, equivalent to 3 or more trips per year, and requires a valid, up-to-date passport. To enable collaboration with other global team members, this role may require hours outside of 9am-5pm at least two working days per week. More details can be provided at the interview stage.
This position can be based in Singapore, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, or Indonesia. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in one of these countries and reside in that country while undertaking this role.
This position will close on Thursday, May 15th, 2025 at 4:00 am UTC. Please apply on our website.
Applications received before this time will be prioritized, and applications received after the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
 Core Responsibilities
 Member relations and support
Ensure that OWA member groups in the Asia-Pacific region have the support and resources they need, addressing questions, comments, and concerns in a timely manner.
Empower groups to advance institutional cage-free work.
Mobilize OWA groups around global and regional cage-free campaigns. Work with THL's Global Campaigns team to communicate campaign plans and updates to each member group in the Asia-Pacific region.
Lead the development of goals and content for the biennial OWA Asia-Pacific Regional Summit, and assist the OWA Training & Events Specialist with logistics of the event.
Streamline communication between OWA groups in the Asia-Pacific region by coordinating meetings and webinars and managing communication channels such as Slack and WhatsApp.
Coordinate support and bonding opportunities for groups in the Asia-Pacific region. Facilitate team building calls, and recognize groups for their accomplishments via OWA communication platforms.
Represent The Humane League and the Open Wing Alliance at international conferences and networking events.
 Recruitment, grants, and onboarding
Research and recruit new OWA member organizations in key areas for outreach and campaigns. Conceive and execute culturally relevant recruitment tactics.
Lead the onboarding of new OWA member groups and of new staff members joining existing OWA member groups in the Asia-Pacific region.
Attend check-ins as needed with the OWA Asia-Pacific Regional Manager, OWA Grant Lead, and OWA members to encourage accountability.
In addition to the above essential job duties, other duties may be assigned as business needs arise. These may include non-essential, marginal job duties.
