Position Purpose
- This is a Casual role for Port Macquarie Airport. The Aviation Screening Officer's (ASO) role performs duties relevant to the security of persons and property at the airport as defined by the contract with Sydney Airport Corporation Limited, Qantas, (Sydney Airport) and Individual Airlines in accordance with the appropriate legislation. The Aviation Security division encompasses the International and Domestic Terminals at Sydney Airport and special off-site contracts where screening services are required. Employees are expected to apply the highest levels of professionalism through our 'Security with Service and Integrity' model whilst operating within a service orientated work environment.
*Key Responsibilities *
- The primary function for an Aviation Screening Officer (ASO) is passenger screening at the airport. Officers are rotated
through each of the positions as detailed below:
• Loader
• X-Ray Operator
• Physical Bag Searcher
• Primary Position (Body scanner/Walk through metal detector)
• Explosive Trace Detector (ETD)
At each point, the ASO operates within a team and is responsible for maintaining and applying the safety standards and processes, whilst always conducting themselves in a professional and courteous manner. ASO's are often faced with challenging interactions with the public and as such must be prepared to engage in conflict resolution.
