Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Software Architect to define and evolve the architectural direction of enterprise-grade solutions across Codex’s projects and platforms.
You will play a critical role in ensuring our systems are secure, scalable, performant, and maintainable — while mentoring engineering teams and aligning with business objectives.
You’ll be part of a collaborative and high-impact team working on solutions with national significance.
- Lead end-to-end solution design from requirements gathering to system architecture, integration, and deployment.
- Develop architecture blueprints and high-level designs that optimize scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Translate functional requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Present architectural strategies and solution proposals to internal teams and external clients.
- Define and maintain Codex’s architecture standards, reusable components, and development guidelines.
- Advocate modern engineering principles including Agile, DevSecOps, and Microservices.
- Ensure architectural consistency and governance across all technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering leads to ensure adherence to architectural guidelines during development and delivery.
- Provide expert technical guidance throughout the SDLC, including integration, performance optimization, and security hardening.
- Conduct design and code reviews for high-impact systems and modules.
- Embed cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management considerations into architectural design.
- Promote resilience, observability, and performance engineering across projects.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools aligned with Codex’s roadmap (AI/ML, low-code platforms, data streaming, automation, etc.).
- Support R&D and modernization initiatives to future-proof Codex’s technology platforms.
- Mentor engineers and technical leads to develop architecture competencies within the organization.
- Contribute to internal architecture communities and best-practice sharing.
- Partner with bid and delivery teams to develop architecture proposals, estimations, and technical documentation for pre-engagement activities.
- Participate in client workshops to validate assumptions and align solutions with mission needs.
- 8+ years of software engineering and architecture experience, ideally in large-scale or mission-critical systems.
- Experience in public sector or homeland security domains is a plus.
- Deep understanding of architectural principles including microservices, API design, and event-driven systems.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of security, scalability, and performance engineering in enterprise systems.
- Ability to lead technical teams and influence stakeholders across various domains.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
