II. Job Purpose
The Accounting Director will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices, manage bookkeeping of multiple subsidiaries internationally, budgeting, developing internal accounting controls, tracking client accounts, reporting to the government and retaining a strong accounting team. The successful candidate for this position will play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company.
III. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage accounting teams in other company branches;
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles;
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including month and end-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, payroll and utilities, budgeting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, debt activity, reporting to the government, and others
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements;
- Coordinate and complete annual audits;
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions;
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy;
- Meet financial accounting objectives and key performance indicators;
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions;
- Maintain a low accounts receivable level and low average payment cycle;
- Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability;
- Develop monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams;
- Ensure that the organization's activities, policies, processes, and procedures are documented and implemented as they are intended to be executed and that they are being followed with diligence;
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of current policies, procedures, initiatives, and internal controls, as well as identify and validate issues resulting from reviews;
- Provide coaching and trainings to the Accounting team;
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the management.
IV. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required;
- CPA or CA designation (preferred);
- 2+ years' experience as a certified public accountant;
- 3+ years' experience in an accounting leadership role;
- Proficiency in English (written & verbal);
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Accounting Software;
- Proficiency in MS Office and modern technology tools;
- Exceptional leadership abilities;
- Strong budgeting, financial forecasting and financial analysis skills required;
