What is The Role:
We are seeking an exceptional Sales Ops Professional (Individual Contributor) to help drive sales strategy, planning, reporting, and analysis efforts for our APJ business. The Sales Strategy & Operations Manager will be responsible for the analytical aspects of key business decisions, including go-to-market strategies, resource allocation, process improvement, metrics and dashboards.

You must be able to work cross-functionally to drive efficiency and performance improvement across multiple operational and financial metrics throughout APJ. You will generate reports and analysis, providing insights that support decision-making and help define, land, and execute on our key strategic priorities for the geography. You will support running the business cadence, helping navigate the complexities of systems and tools as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve problems, design, manage, and successfully deliver projects against operational standards.

The Sales Strategy & Operations Manager will help scale the operations of Elastic's APJ business by providing the systems and business insights the organization needs to optimize sales performance, effectiveness and productivity. Responsibilities will include pipeline analysis, sales performance analyses, forecast preparation, territory management, quota assignment, report preparation and deep analysis of our efficiency in the market. The Sales Strategy & Operations Manager enjoys analyzing data, loves disrupting the inefficient, and is not afraid to "get their hands dirty". What you will be doing:

  • Partner closely with sales leadership to develop actionable, measurable projects and programs that accelerate sales growth and improve sales rep productivity.

What you bring with you:

  • BS/BA or equivalent required
  • 5+ years work experience in Sales, Sales Operations, Strategy, FP&A, Management Consulting, or similar field in SaaS organizations with strong exposure to go-to-market strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure complex problems, develop solutions, and craft recommendations and results into easily digestible messages, communications, and executive presentations.

The Team:

The Sales Strategy team, part of the Client Coverage group within S&P Dow Jones Indices (SPDJI), is dedicated to driving increased revenue opportunities through acquiring new customers, expanding into new client segments, and enhancing relationships with existing clients. Our mission includes developing and executing sales strategies, overseeing lead generation, and identifying strategic partnerships to support the company's growth objectives.

We are seeking a Director to lead the APAC Sales Strategy team at SPDJI. This role will partner closely with SPDJI leadership, particularly the Commercial leader, to define and execute the sales and retention strategy, leveraging a global campaign framework and ensuring consistency of messaging internally and externally.

Reporting to the APAC Head of Sales, the Head of Sales Strategy will oversee the execution of sales strategies and performance against targets, while also designing and implementing effective sales campaigns to enhance market penetration. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the team to leverage insights from internal partners, aligning organizational goals with client needs and translating these into actionable strategies that drive revenue.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with SPDJI leadership to define the sales and retention strategy, ensuring alignment with our Global commercial strategy.
  • Develop and execute the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for new products and services.
  • Supervise and report on the execution of sales strategy and performance against targets, course-correcting where needed.
  • Ensure clear and actionable reporting to senior management on the delivery to plan, with effective review and evaluation of launches to drive a culture of improvement and transparency, in addition to celebrating success.
  • Design and implement effective sales campaigns to enhance market penetration.
  • Oversee lead generation efforts and optimize conversion processes.
  • Manage relationships with data vendors and strategic partners to maximize value and visibility.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities and competitive advantages.
  • Become a focal point and center of excellence around product communication and knowledge sharing, organizing community calls or other forums to achieve this.
  • Ensure sales teams understand the top-level SPDJI strategy and the capabilities that we deliver for the wide variety of customers we serve.
  • Ensure the team develops and executes a client planning approach, mapping out key customers and associated wallets, key relationships, and decision-makers within those accounts, ensuring that we mobilize against this map utilizing appropriate tools (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Lead the Sales Strategy team to achieve sales targets and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as client coverage, product management, and marketing to align product offerings with client needs.
  • Engage with clients and industry stakeholders to gather feedback and insights for continuous improvement.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Proven management skills and experience in applying sales process knowledge, product knowledge, and industry insight to increase sales and differentiate the brand.
  • Deep understanding of SPDJI's value proposition to each client segment and the index data and analytics industry.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, consultative sales, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and build strategic partnerships.
  • Experience conducting market analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Over 10 years of proven success in revenue generation roles, preferably within the financial services or index data sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree: relevant certifications (e.g., CFA) are considered favorably.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is essential.
