International Trade & Compliance Manager – Medical Technology (APAC)
The Opportunity
A leading player in the medical technology sector is seeking a International Trade & Compliance Manager, Medical Technology (APAC) to oversee and strengthen its trade compliance operations across the APAC and other regions including Latin American and EMEA.
This strategic position sits within a highly regulated environment, where accuracy, attention to regulatory detail, and global coordination are key.
You'll work at the intersection of operations, regulatory affairs, and logistics—ensuring compliance with international trade laws while supporting smooth and lawful product movement across borders.
What You Will Do
- Develop and enforce trade compliance policies and procedures in line with global regulations and local requirements throughout APAC.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in customs, export controls, and trade law; assess risks and recommend actions.
- Lead initiatives around product classification (HTS/ECCN), denied party screening, country of origin determination, and documentation retention.
- Coordinate with government agencies and customs authorities on audits, investigations, licensing, rulings, and related processes.
- Manage trade compliance operations for direct markets and distribution channels, working closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Legal, Sales, and Regulatory.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams and partners on trade compliance policies and operational best practices.
- Ensure systems (including GTM software) are optimally configured for compliance workflows and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement in trade compliance capabilities, aligning with business growth and regulatory expectations.
What We Look For
- Minimum 5 years' experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or export control, preferably in a regulated industry such as healthcare, life sciences, aerospace, or technology.
- Deep understanding of international trade laws and regional regulatory landscapes (focus on Asia, with exposure to Africa and Latin America a plus). Proficiency in product classification, export licensing, country of origin determinations, and free trade agreements.
- Experience interacting with customs and trade authorities, including managing audits, requests for information, and documentation requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of Global Trade Management (GTM) systems; Oracle Cloud is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Confident communicator able to train internal teams and provide strategic advice across functions.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
