Job Opportunity: Database Expert

We are seeking an experienced Oracle database administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on skills in database installation, configuration, and performance tuning.

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting mission-critical environments within the banking sector, ensuring database stability and security.

This is a long-term project with strong possibility of contract renewal.


Key Responsibilities:
    • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases.
    • Create and manage new databases, ensuring performance and availability.
    • Harden and patch database instances based on vulnerability assessments.
    • Configure and test Backup-Restore procedures, ensuring recoverability.
    • Set up and test DataGuard (Oracle).
    • Perform switchover testing for DR and production environments.
    • Execute database migration and upgrades across platforms/versions.
    • Maintain accurate inventory of all database installations and assets.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and performance issues.
    • Support audit activities by providing required documentation and evidence.
    • Implement database changes in accordance with change management policies.
    • Document all processes and update operational runbooks.
    • Lead and mentor junior DBAs and act as a point of escalation.

Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience in Oracle (11g/12c/19c), with SQL Server knowledge.
    • Strong experience in DataGuard, backup/restore, patching, and tuning.
    • Familiar with AOAG, disaster recovery testing, and upgrade procedures.
    • Solid understanding of ITIL practices (Change/Incident/Problem Management).
    • Experience in banking or financial services environment is an added advantage.
    • Able to work under pressure, including non-office hours and holidays when required.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Internship Projects Typically Revolve Around the Following:
+ Opportunity to be on the central data scientist team taking on supply chain, retail and media analytics problems that are general across brands, or you'll be in the embedded data scientist team addressing eCommerce and consumer problems and being very close to a brand.
+ Tasked on real-life projects and responsibilities from Day 1 - understand business objectives and generate impactful insights by investigating datasets of point-of-sales, geospatial, product & supply, DTC, CRM, TV media, online search, etc from more than 10 countries across the region.
+ Build , validate , test and deploy machine learning or other data science models into our IT platforms.
Job Qualifications
+ You are a student graduating between December 2025 to July 2026 . Able to commit to a full-time 6 month internship ( July - Dec 202 5 )
+ Leaders with strong academic results in a Master's Degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Applied Science or other quant-focused field.
+ Proficient in Python. Knowledge on big data environment and Spark is preferred.
+ Familiar with Operations Research (optimization, simulation) and machine learning models (tree models, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, etc.). Proven use of machine learning, statistical modelling or econometrics in internship or coursework.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence others to take action .
+ Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally - with people from different functions , backgrounds and experiences.
+ Possess strong thinking/problem-solving skills which can be applied to business processes with a "can-do" attitude.
+ Proven capability to handle multiple priorities.
