We are seeking doctors with Ophthalmology experience, to fulfil locum session in the Eye-PACE clinic.
Scope of work:
The locum medical officer will be expected to:
- Review Ophthalmology patients listed for ocular surgery.
- Screen the patient's medical history.
- Ensure the patient is fit for surgery, based on established PACE guidelines.
- Perform a history and physical examination.
- Perform a medication review.
- Counsel the patient on nil by mouth and medication instructions prior to surgery, including the cessation of anti-platelet therapy when required.
- Review pre-operative blood results and ECG findings.
- Dispense pre-operative eye drops to patients.
- Order relevant peri-operative medication where required.
- Provide assistance to PACE nurses when required.
Clear and strict guidelines for all pre-anaesthetic work-up are available to guide practice.

3. Emergency Response

4. Coordination & Communication
· Work closely with the nursing team, allied health professionals to ensure holistic person-centred care
· Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings to review residents' progress.
· Communicate with residents' families/sponsors, providing updates and addressing concerns or change in residents' medical condition when necessary.
· Attend family conference when needed.
· Facilitate advance care planning (ACP) and preferred plan of care (PPC) conversations with residents and family members/sponsors.
5. Compliance & Quality Assurance
· Ensure compliance with relevant health regulations, licensing requirements, and infection control policies
· Ensure medical documentation is accurate, timely and compliant with regulatory requirements.
· Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity/mortality reviews and incident reporting.
· Stay updated on nursing home/geriatric care best practices and emerging medical guidelines.
6. Role in Infection Control and Prevention Program
- Participate and involve in supporting and playing advisory/consultancy role in the Infection Control and Prevention Program
- Contribute in the writing of policies on antibiotic prescribing.
- Review the appropriateness of antimicrobial at or after 48 hours from initial orders
- Implement practices to improve the use of antibiotics.
Qualifications
· MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution.
· Certification or experience in geriatric or family medicine would be an added advantage.
· Full registration with Singapore Medical Council (SMC)
· BCLS/AED certification
· Have the relevant knowledge in InterRAI and Resident Assessment Forms (RAF) would be an added advantage.
