The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), together with the Earth Observatory of Singapore, is looking for a Research Fellow to make an important contribution to the research project: “Climate Transformation Program (CTP): Cross Cutting Theme 1 – Sustainable Societies” funded by the MOE Tier 3C Grant. CTP aims to develop, inspire, and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.
CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.
As part of this programme, “Cross-cutting theme 1: Sustainable Societies”, this theme will leverage climate research in communication, public opinion and psychology, and artistic impressions to shape public attitudes and behaviours towards climate change issues. The Research Fellow will work directly with the PI of the Sustainable Societies theme, Professor Shirley Ho, based in the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU.
Key Responsibilities
- To engage in conducting literature searches and manuscript preparation.
- To develop and implement a five-wave survey with the public.
- To conduct statistical analyses with survey data.
- To engage in VR app development and implementation.
- To engage in experiment conceptualization, design, and implementation.
- To conduct statistical analyses with experimental data.
- To contribute to research publications and presentations.
- To write progress report and final research report.
- To engage in the dissemination of the results of the research with the support of and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
- To carry out administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary.
- PhD degree in communication, psychology, sociology, or a social science related discipline.
- Strong foundation in survey research, VR app development, experimental research and analytical skills (e.g., SPSS, MPLUS, or R).
- A team player in a project setting, also with ability to work independently in a multi-cultural team environment.
- Must demonstrate initiative and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Prior experience in survey research.
- Prior experience in VR app development and experimental research.
- An internationally recognized research track record as evidenced by journal publications and conference presentations.

Established as a partnership between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National Healthcare Group (NHG), the Asian Centre for Health Behavioural Insights & Interventions (HABITS) aims to improve population health through multidisciplinary and translational research to support interventions, policy and programmes; strengthen national capabilities through the integration of translational research into health intervention processes; and increase Singapore’s regional and international profile as a centre of excellence for health behavioural sciences.
We are looking for a Research Associate / Research Assistant to work closely with the centre’s Directors to manage research analyses and to secure research grants. The role will focus on research design and development, project management, and day-to-day research operations, such as data storage, budgets, expenses, assets, and ethics approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement research, including literature review, data collection, and data analyses.
- Conduct and interpret qualitative and quantitative research
- Support research projects, including, securing ethics approval, contributing to academic publications and reports, managing operations, etc.
- Work closely with collaborators and third-party service providers in conducting the projects
- Daily operational, administrative, and logistics duties related to the research projects
- Conduct and organise project meetings
- Support the development of grant proposals
- Promote and communicate HABITS achievements and research impact through publications, presentations and media engagement.
- Undertake any additional duties as required by the centre’s Directors
- Master’s/ Bachelor’s degree in behavioural sciences, public health, communication and psychology or related fields
- At least two years of full-time academic or market research experience preferred
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and tools
- Experience with academic publications
- Background in behavioural sciences, public health, communication and psychology preferred
- Strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with securing and managing research grants
- Ability to develop strategic and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Competent in soft skills / general personality traits e.g. information visualization, interaction design
- Interpersonal skill (e.g. Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills)
- Ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
