The AWS Cloud infrastructure is built around Regions and Availability Zones (AZs). AWS Regions provide multiple, physically separated and isolated Availability Zones which are connected with low latency, high throughput, and highly redundant networking. These Availability Zones offer AWS customers an easier and more effective way to design and operate applications and databases, making them more highly available, fault tolerant, and scalable than traditional single datacenter infrastructures or multi-datacenter infrastructures. Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, commercial and technically savvy Backbone Network Developer to help develop and scale one of the world's largest and most complex networks. We develop new and innovative ways to scale and expand our network, whilst delivering operational excellence to our stakeholders. This opportunity sits within our Backbone Network Development organization where the team is responsible for planning, developing and acquiring the network that drive Amazon's internal infrastructure as well as connecting Amazon to the rest of the world. The Backbone Network Developer will be a subject matter expert in the telecommunications marketplace, experienced with managing vendors, physical network infrastructure, optical technologies and backbone network engineering. This individual will actively drive a commercial and technical vendor network strategy within APAC, working with suppliers, technology partners, as well as the AWS service teams to meet our customer's demands. By applying a unique blend of industry and technology experience, you will work closely with both external partners and internal teams to find creative, cost effective, and often unusual solutions to meet Amazon's ongoing growth and expansion needs worldwide.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Global Backbone Network Development team helping to drive overall Network Infrastructure strategy.
- Execute strategic backbone network plans and provide regular progress updates.
- Identify suppliers and develop technical and commercial solutions that solve for wavelengths, dark fibre and submarine cable capacity.
- Organize, track, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to deliver new backbone capacity for Amazon.
- Work with capacity planners and engineers to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective network topology is delivered.
- Work closely with finance partners, collaborating on budget creation, business case development, deal analysis, and supplier invoicing.
- Track overall telecoms market trends and developments in terms of vendor technologies, coverage, cost and deal structures.
- Manage supplier onboarding, relationships, performance, and service quality.
- Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risks and escalations, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
Basic Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in an IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5-years telecommunications industry experience in a similar environment.
- Candidates must have an experience in managing suppliers/customers or partners.
- Ability to create complex financial models to understand business impacts of various network solutions is required.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results.
- Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position.
- Willing to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a large network operator, OTT or Internet Service Provider.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate customer requirements
- Experience interacting with senior executives and other management within your own company and externally; and working across commercial, technical, domestic, and international arms of an organization
- In-depth knowledge of the latest optical communications developments.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP and ISIS.
- Ability to speak multiple languages.

About the team

Our team works to build out the backend services, testing infrastructure, and best practices that enable TikTok engineers to deliver high-quality features and systems to our users. We aim to provide systems enabling testing and operation to be more productive and secure. The systems we are building include testing frameworks, standards and related tools and platform. We are looking for engineers who have good backend design and/or infra experience to join our team.

Responsibilities:

- Build testing infrastructure which is related to API, UI and Web automation which supports all TikTok products

- Design, build and support automated testing, continuous deployment and telemetry systems that help our teammates work more effectively.

- Help make decisions around infrastructure technology choices that impact developer workflow, security, scalability, reliability, and performance.

- Contribute to the curation and prioritization of the team roadmap.

- Embrace cross-team collaboration, debate, and execution, working closely with teammates in business orgs to solve problems and make sure our infrastructure evolves with our products.

Qualifications

- Bachelor degree in computer science or a related technical discipline with 5+ years' industry experience;

- Experience working with Java/C++/Python/Golang;

- Experience in one or more of the following: private or public cloud, backend architecture, CI/CD system, testing infrastructure

Preferred:

- Automation testing infrastructure experience

- Experience with technical leadership and dealing with ambiguity

- Strong strategic thinking and team collaboration skills

The Role

Test Engineering is a performance-driven team focused on cost, quality, and time-to-market, ensuring the availability of AMD Data Center Graphics products for customers.

• Pre-silicon responsibilities include gaining a deep understanding of product features, developing test plans and requirements, and building the software and hardware infrastructure necessary for execution. This role involves collaboration with Design and Platform Engineering, providing valuable test enhancement feedback for future designs.
• Post-silicon responsibilities focus on delivering comprehensive test coverage on schedule and executing characterization plans. This may involve debugging silicon test performance issues, addressing yield challenges, optimizing manufacturing processes, and resolving device marginalities. The Test Engineer will work closely with Design and Platform Engineering to identify root causes stemming from debug, characterization, and margin analysis.

• At least 8 years of industry experience required. Candidates with less experience but a proven track record in 93K test program infrastructure and tools development are encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of AI concepts and methodologies, with the ability to integrate them into tools development.

• Expertise in Unix and Windows environments, along with strong programming skills in C++, Java, Perl, Python, and Ruby scripting.
• Hands-on experience in ATE test handling, execution, and development—Advantest V93K experience preferred.
