As a Marine Underwriter in this position, you will be reporting into the Marine Manager and work closely to achieve the set target and maintain the existing business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the existing business and involved in helping to achieve and grow the overall target set by the organisation. You will be expected to underwrite and develop marine cargo and hull business to achieve the targeted profitable portfolio.

In order to be successful, you will be required to review, accept and underwrite business within Risk Acceptance Authority and guidelines including claim matters, recommendations on wordings and liaison with internal stakeholders.

Skills and experience required

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients, intermediaries, surveyors/adjustors, handling agents, overseas Principals.
  • Manage correspondence and attend meetings with clients/intermediaries when required.

  • Review and escalate claims exceeding authority to HOD/Senior Management for approval before notifying Customers, Settling Agents, etc.
  • Review files regularly, compile monthly/quarterly statistics as needed
  • Conduct UAT for Marine Claims module.
  • Carry out duties assigned by management.
