Job Purpose

· Have thorough knowledge of and deliver the SJII Elementary School PE curriculum

· Recognise and respond to the academic, social and emotional needs of the students

· Provide duty of care and pastoral support to ensure the wellbeing of the students

Key Responsibilities

Specific Tasks and Duties

Strategic Leadership

· Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is

· Contribute to the development of PE yearly overviews, as well as medium and short term

teaching and learning plans, based upon curriculum documentation and key learning

outcomes

· Gather, record and share assessment data with the team in order to cater for the different

needs of the students in the grade level and assess the effectiveness of the programme

· Engage in aspects of the Elementary School Improvement Plan (ESIP) as a member of a

PLC or working group

· Liaise closely with the AP Student Success and pastoral team around students who require

support beyond the homeroom classroom

Resource Management

· Ensure that PE Departement resources are organised and managed to provide an efficient,

effective and safe learning environment

· Monitor, evaluate and review the available teaching and learning resources and

communicate suggested improvements or changes to the AP Curriculum and Assessment

· Look for and recommend resources that may be available beyond the school that support

teaching and learning or provide professional development opportunities for the PE team

Communication

· Communicate with the Head of PE, School Leadership Team and colleagues effectively,

respectfully and in a timely manner

· Ensure positive and effective partnerships with parents through regular and clear

communication about the student

The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.

Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and reflect on engaging PE lessons that promote physical literacy, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits, aligned with the IB PYP framework.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse physical abilities, interests, and developmental stages of students.
Integrate PE with classroom Units of Inquiry by collaborating with homeroom and subject teachers, reinforcing transdisciplinary connections.
Use a variety of assessments to monitor students’ progress in physical, social, and emotional development; provide constructive feedback and targeted support where needed.
Foster an inclusive, safe, and encouraging environment where all students are motivated to participate and develop confidence in physical activity.
Promote values such as sportsmanship, resilience, cooperation, and respect through daily practice and structured activities.
Organize and lead school‐wide sports days, inter‐house events, and extracurricular physical activities.
Communicate effectively with parents, sharing progress and offering guidance on supporting healthy habits at home.
Stay updated on best practices in PE pedagogy, child development, and holistic wellness, incorporating innovative approaches into teaching.
Contribute to the broader school community by actively engaging in meetings, professional learning, and collaborative projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching PE in an international school setting, with strong knowledge of lower primary years.
Familiarity with the IB PYP framework and transdisciplinary, inquiry‐based approaches.
Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices in physical education.
Experience organizing sports events, extracurricular activities, or after‐school clubs.
Excellent classroom management, with a focus on building a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with colleagues, students, and parents.
Passion for fostering a lifelong love of movement, fitness, and well‐being in children.
