The Iddya lab is actively recruiting highly motivated and creative graduate students (upto 2) for Jan 2026 in the Department of Chemical Engineering at NTU.
Research in our lab will focus on developing electrochemical and membrane-based technologies to tackle urgent challenges at the food–water–energy nexus. Candidates will engage in cutting-edge research focused on polymer chemistry, interfacial science, nanotechnology, and AI to enable advanced water treatment, sustainable energy recovery, and nutrient management.
Potential projects include but are not limited to:
- Ion-selective membranes for resource recovery
- Build digital twins to optimize membrane-based processes
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, environmental engineering or related fields.
- Research experience in electrochemistry, membrane fabrication, ion exchange membranes, or analytical chemistry is advantageous.
- Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills.

Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in environmental engineering, biochemical engineering, environmental biotechnology/microbiology or a related field in science or engineering;

The School of Materials Science and Engineering is looking for a highly motivated candidate to join us as a Project Officer (PO). The PO will join an MOE funded project led by Prof Ng Kee Woei. The project aims to upcycle keratinous waste for the bioplastics development. The PO will be responsible to develop and optimize the formulation of keratin-based bioplastics, characterize the produced bioplastics and assess its biodegradation profile in soil.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough literature review and generate periodic updates
Extract the keratin protein
Formulate and optimize keratin-based bioplastics
Characterize the keratin-based bioplastics properties (e.g. Mechanical strength, FTIR, SEM, degradability, permeability, water contact, etc.)
Analyse and interpret research data
Develop and optimize protocols
Manage logistical issues and laboratory inventory.
Participate in collaborative work within multidisciplinary team and external collaborators
Assist the generation of periodic progress report as required by funding agency
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Chemistry/Environmental Engineering/Biology or related fields
