We are currently looking for a lead instructor for our full-time (12 week) Software Engineering Bootcamp.
We are looking for instructors:Our Software Engineering Bootcamp is a life-changing educational experience where our students learn the skills and mindsets to take on new careers as web developers. We are looking for a lead instructor with strong front-end and back-end development experience to play a key role on our instructional team.
This role is based in Singapore and is delivered in a hybrid (on campus and online) format, requiring instructors to reside in Singapore and have an eligible work permit or be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident. (We are not currently sponsoring employees.)
Why teach our Software Engineering Bootcamp? If you are looking to make a life-changing impact by sharing your love for software development with the next generation of developers, we’d love for you to consider joining our team. We deliver more than just skills training, and are looking for teachers who share our vision for facilitating and mentoring a community of lifelong learners pursuing work that they love. As a teacher, you will join us to:
- Work closely with the instructional team (co-lead instructors, instructional associates, instructor manager) to guide students through a rigorous, transformational journey.
- Become a better leader, coach, and mentor as you learn from students, experienced instructors, and the larger General Assembly community.
- Inspire and support students as they identify their passions and drive their own continued learning beyond the curriculum; motivate students when they deal with classroom and personal challenges that become barriers to learning.
- Adapt our global curriculum and use it to guide your teaching, building your own lesson plans as needed and contributing back your lessons learned over time.
- Facilitate a safe, supportive, and energetic community that welcomes the various abilities, needs and learning styles of your students.
Through a combination of live instruction, supported study with independent work, unit projects (individual and team-based) and 1:1 support to master full-stack web development, we prepare our learners to become full stack software engineers with experience in solving real world engineering problems.
Our curriculum is designed to guide students through the software development process, starting from foundational concepts to advanced applications. We begin with the basics of programming using JavaScript and introduce web design with HTML and CSS. From there, we progress to simple web development, followed by more advanced front-end techniques using React.js.
The course then transitions to backend development, focusing on Express.js, API creation, and database management. Approximately 50% of the course is dedicated to JavaScript-based frontend development, 25% to backend development with a focus on APIs, databases, and security, and the remainder on backend development using an additional programming language.
Additionally, we equip learners with essential skills for the workplace, including source control, team collaboration, and developer workflows, ensuring they are well-prepared for working in cross-functional team environments.
The Software Engineering Bootcamp consists of four units:
- Unit 1: Fundamentals of Software Engineering
- Unit 2: Front-End Development
- Unit 3: Full-Stack Development
- Unit 4: Data and Back-End Development
Learning is assessed through four major projects (two independent projects, one team project, and a final course capstone), in addition to smaller projects and labs. About 20% of the overall class time is dedicated to supporting learners’ project work.

- Teach 40 hours per week; currently classes on Monday through Thursday are on campus, with Fridays remote; we observe all public holidays in Singapore.
