Growth Marketing Specialist (CRM & Mobile)

Maker Lab is looking for a dynamic individual to join an exciting project we’ve embarked on with our technology client. Our client's brand is complex, innovative and paving the way for creative avenues to revolutionalise the payment industry in unconventional ways.

As a growth marketing specialist you will develop user insights, understand ideal consumer journeys, and build scalable communication avenues through the use of CRM and Mobile technology, and further enhance our growth strategy. This role focuses on providing you with a breadth of exposure across all marketing functions while developing expertise in growth marketing.

Role:

  • Manage a scalable marketing communications platform through strategic and data-led CRM programmes and product feature roll-outs.
  • Plan and develop a content calendar (push notifications, email, in-app) on a monthly basis, including managing a process to intake content suggestions from internal stakeholders (e.g., feature teams, marketing teams).
  • Be the project manager and collaborate with internal teams on content creation, including message positioning and strings, asset creation, target group development and engineering requirements.
  • Own the end-to-end process from inception to deployment for push notifications emails and in-app communications.
  • Deployment management includes setting up messages in scripts to be uploaded, creating target lists, QA testing all communications through pre-production channels, and scheduling final communication pushes.
  • Report back on performance, including click-through rates, down-funnel metrics impact. Work with the analytics team on reporting KPIs.
  • Effectively maintain expectations with stakeholders and meet key deadlines.

You:

  • BA/BS degree, or in lieu of degree, relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of email, push notification and in-app marketing, CRM, or marketing campaign management experience.
  • Experience working in high-growth, technology led matrix organisations, ideally with some fintech exposure.
  • Experience with mobile app and growth marketing / hacking desired.
  • Experience with CRM marketing technology preferred.
  • Previous experience on using SQL for growth and marketing analytics.
  • Able to clearly coordinate and provide information to the cross-functional teams.
  • Data-driven, being able to convert data into high value business decisions and campaign optimisations.
  • A critical thinker who uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Able to independently start projects and is agile and able to learn and quickly adapt to changes.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional analytical, project and stakeholder management skills.
  • Copywriting skills are desired.
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communications and presentations skills and, ideally, fluent in another Asian language to support with the projects spanning across JAPAC.

Role Overview:

As a Marketing Automation Manager , you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing automated marketing campaigns to enhance customer engagement, lead generation, and conversion rates. What you'll do:

Marketing Automation: Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of marketing automation software (currently we're using Hubspot CRM) with the hands on technical skills needed to set up workflows and integrate communications and sales channels

Digital Marketing Strategies: Create and implement digital marketing automation strategies to increase leads, improve campaign performance, and maintain customer databases, contributing directly to revenue growth.

CRM Utilization: Utilize customer relationship management (CRM) software (currently Hubspot CRM) to develop lead generation and sales strategies that enhance customer acquisition and retention.

Email Marketing: Develop, manage, and optimize email marketing campaigns to enhance engagement, nurture leads, and drive conversions, ensuring best practices in deliverability, segmentation, and personalization. Technical skills to set up and run the campaigns yourself are a must, basic knowledge of HTML and CSS for email template customization is a plus.

Data Analysis: Work with analysts to review and analyze data to identify trends and create data-driven strategies that inform our marketing projects, ensuring they are both impactful and aligned with business objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Oversee the planning and execution of marketing initiatives, serving as a liaison between marketing, sales and product teams to ensure cohesive and successful campaigns.

Technology Oversight: Oversee the technology infrastructure supporting our marketing efforts, ensuring it is robust and scalable.

Who you are:

At least 5-7 years experience in integrated marketing automation, ideally from an agency or B2B fintech SaaS background

At least 5-7 years of marketing automation experience

Knowledge of using automation tools like Hubspot (key platform), Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Keap and Mailchimp.

Understanding of lead generation procedures and customer life cycle.

Proficient in audience segmentation.

Strong understanding of digital marketing techniques like A/B testing.

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, analytical, optimization, problem-solving and project

management skills.

Experience integrating APIs and building automated workflows using tools like Zapier to connect marketing technologies and streamline processes.

Analytical and driven by data metrics.

Strong project management and collaboration skills

Candidates must be proficient in English, proficient in Chinese is a plus.

Candidates based in Asia with an Asia working timezone is a must.

Rakuten Marketing Cloud Platform Department’s mission is to lead Rakuten’s marketing related products strategy, execute product development and implementation. We empower Rakuten internal marketing teams by building engaging, respectful, and cost-efficient marketing platforms that put our customers at the centre. Our main advantage comes from our ability to leverage the Rakuten Ecosystem. We provide marketing solutions such as marketing campaign management, multichannel communication, and personalization.

With the expansion of our business, we are opening a Principal Product Manager position to accelerate our product growth with a specific focus on understanding unmet needs with our current portfolio, building the vision to create a strategic advantage and accelerate our growth.

Role & Responsibilities :

This is a hands-on role. The candidate should be comfortable with deep research and analysis on the product, and not afraid to get into the details.

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

  • Define and champion the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our marketing suite, with a strong focus on competitive differentiation and market leadership.
  • Conduct in-depth competitive analysis to identify product gaps, opportunities, and strategic advantages.

Product Planning & Execution:

  • Lead the product planning process, translating market insights and competitive intelligence into actionable product specifications, user stories, and detailed requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer needs, and competitive pressures.
  • Drive the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch, iteration, and eventual sunsetting, with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:

  • Effectively communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to key stakeholders, including executives, engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer support.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment throughout the product development process.
  • Navigate complex organizational structures and effectively influence decision-making at all levels.
  • Conduct thorough market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to identify unmet needs and emerging opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our target audience and their evolving needs.
  • Translate customer feedback and market insights into actionable product improvements and new feature development.

Financial Acumen & Business Impact:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the product P&L and identify opportunities to drive revenue growth, improve profitability, and optimize costs.

  • Make data-driven decisions and recommendations to maximize the business impact of the product.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to other product managers, providing guidance and support on product strategy, planning, and execution.
  • Share best practices and contribute to the overall growth and development of the product management team.

Mandatory Qualifications :

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with a strong focus on marketing technology (MarTech).
  • Bilingual in both English and Business-level proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher preferred) required because you will need to liaise with both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the marketing technology landscape, including AI, marketing automation, CRM, analytics, personalization, and advertising technologies.
  • Proven track record of success in a startup or mid-sized company environment.
  • Experience working in an enterprise environment, with a strong understanding of enterprise sales cycles and customer needs.
  • Experience with platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Braze, or similar enterprise-grade solutions.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop a clear product vision and roadmap.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify key insights and opportunities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics, including revenue, cost, and profit.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills to conduct in-depth product analysis.

**Position Summary:**

The Senior Product Manager for Marketing Automation will be responsible for defining and executing the product strategy and roadmap for Rakuten Group various service marketing automation platform. This role will lead the development of innovative solutions that enable our clients to effectively engage with their customers, personalize marketing campaigns, and drive measurable results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the marketing automation landscape, a proven track record of successfully launching and managing products, and excellent leadership and communication skills.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Rakuten's marketing automation platform.

* Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to identify opportunities and unmet needs.

* Translate market requirements and customer feedback into detailed product specifications and user stories.

* Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer priorities.

* Collaborate closely with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.

* Monitor and analyze product performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.

* Develop and maintain product documentation, training materials, and marketing collateral.

* Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in marketing automation.

* Lead and mentor a team of product managers (if applicable - adjust as needed).

**Required Skills/Experience:**

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field.

* 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on marketing automation or CRM platforms.

* Strong understanding of the marketing automation landscape, including email marketing, SMS marketing, personalization, and analytics.

* Experience with platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Oracle Eloqua, Braze, or similar.

* Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products.

* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

**Preferred Skills/Experience:**

* Master's degree in a related field.

* Familiarity with Rakuten's ecosystem and services.

* Experience with Karte, Cheetah Digital, Sendgrid/Twilio, Mailchimp, Mailgun, EmberPoint, or Amazon's marketing automation tools.
