To assist dentists in the provision of dental care and dental treatment for patients.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) Specific
1. Prepare patient for treatment and helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment. Advise patient on dental hygiene issues when necessary.
2. Assist in taking and developing dental x-rays.
3. Perform sterilization of instruments, preparing instruments and materials before each dental procedure.
4. Perform instrument manual washing and operate ultrasonic cleaner.
5. Maintain dental chair in good working condition according to manufacture recommendations.
6. Work alongside dentist during dental procedures, providing proper instruments and assistance to facilitate patient care.
7. Maintain patient medical and treatment records and dentists' appointment listing to ensure smooth flow of patients.
8. Assist in communication with patients for appointment reminders, appointment re-scheduling and related patient care issues.
9. Assist in clinic operations, such as appointment booking, answering telephone calls, billing and ordering of supplies.
10. Maintain good clinical, service quality, infection control and grooming standards as required by the hospital.
(B) General
· To see to tidiness and cleanliness of the department, ensuring good filing system and see to clinic administrative work.
· Assist to coordinate clinic operations between dental clinics (in KTPH and other hospitals, such as deployment of staff, top-up of supplies, equipment maintenance, licenses, etc.)
· To participate actively in hospital QC projects and other corporate activities.
· To perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor or HOD.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) Education Training and Experience
· Minimum, GCE 'N' Level, NITEC in dental assisting is an advantage but not essential
· Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as staff may be deployed between different clinics, subject to service needs
· Dental assisting experience in hospital or clinic setting is an advantage but not essential
