Job Scope
- Fundamentals of aviation safety investigations such as the core principles and purpose, as well as exemplary investigation methodologies and how they enable investigators to methodically review potential contributing factors (latent or otherwise)
- Best practices for safety investigations including but not limited to the way interviews are conducted with individuals involved, investigation environment, support framework, post-investigation actions, etc
- Conduct a series of meetings with selected Authority's for the purpose of ensuring that critical areas regarding investigations are considered and addressed, as well as aligned with existing regulatory/legislative requirements, thereby enhancing the credibility and practicality of the final document.
- Conduct a series of engagements with selected management and operational personnel of aviation organisations and professional bodies/unions in Singapore to (i) gain insights on investigation methodologies and practices applied by their respective organisations, (ii) gather ground perspectives/experiences for possible inclusion in the best practices document, and (iii) facilitate alignment with the latest version of the content developed in Phases 1 and 2.
- Iterate with the aviation organisations and professional bodies/unions as necessary for subsequent finalisation of content.
- Conduct one-to-one interviews with selected personnel from the aviation industry to gather real-life case studies/ first-hand perspectives on how psychological and organisational factors influenced the course of investigation and overall experience, for inclusion in the best practices document.
- Draft and finalise (including copyedit) the content of the best practices document
- Structure and format the content of the final document into a suitable format for public consumption, subject to client approval.
- Develop presentation slides to launch and communicate the final document at an industry forum.

The Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA) is the training arm of Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). SAA trains aviation professionals in support of capability development and capacity building for the Singapore air hub and the international aviation community. Reporting to the Head of School of Aviation Safety and Security, you will oversee the development and review, and the conduct of training programmes (including curriculum) to meet CAAS, local and international trainees’ needs. This includes engaging both local and international partners for needs assessment, and proposing relevant training programmes, and infusing interactive learning methods and technology to meet the current and future needs of the industry. You will conduct systematic review and evaluation of programmes and conduct benchmarking exercises to ensure the highest quality of training. You will also have opportunities to organise safety and security seminar, workshops and other events. You will support the continuous development of the teaching talent pool to meet the required training standards and demand. In addition, you will be responsible for the smooth operations, administration, planning and budgeting of the School.

At least 1 to 2 years of working experience in the aviation industry, preferably with teaching or instructing experience
Good knowledge on any specialised topic(s) in aviation safety or security. Knowledge of aviation safety or security regulatory requirements will be a bonus.

Your appointment designation will commensurate with your relevant work experience. Successful candidates will be offered a 3-year contract in the first instance, and may be considered for placement on a permanent tenure or a contract renewal.
