As a key member of the Automation & Analytics team, you will oversee the development and implementation of BI solutions using Qlik Sense and Databricks, and work closely with stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop analytics solutions to meet their needs.
Function and duties
- Lead the development and implementation of BI solutions using Qlik Sense and Databricks
- Guide and coach QlikSense developers in the region to ensure best practices and standards are followed
- Collaborate with regional stakeholders, including Regional Management, Area Management, and Super Users, to identify business requirements and develop analytics solutions to meet their needs
- Act as a Data Scientist for the region, supporting the business with Business Intelligence and analytics
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the shipping industry and Hapag-Lloyd's business operations to support with analytics solutions
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team on Qlik Sense and Databricks, including data modeling, data visualization, and data storytelling
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security in all analytics solutions
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for analytics projects
- Collaborate with the Automation team to ensure alignment and integration of analytics solutions with automation initiatives
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in analytics and data science, and apply this knowledge to improve analytics solutions
- Utilize Databricks to develop and deploy big data analytics solutions, including data engineering, data processing, and data science workloads
- Leverage data analytics tools, such as SQL, Python, and data visualization tools, to extract insights and drive business decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field)
- At least 5 years of experience in analytics, data science, or a related field, with a focus on developing and implementing analytics solutions
- Proven experience with Qlik Sense, including data modeling, data visualization, and data storytelling
- Experience with big data technologies, such as Databricks.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
- Programming skills in Python, with experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques, including data storytelling and insights generation
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
- Experience in a leadership role, with a strong ability to manage and motivate a team
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
- Understanding of the shipping industry or experience working in a related field (desirable)
Advantageous skillsets
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or Azure
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow)
- Experience with data governance, data quality, and data security
- Certification in analytics or data science (e.g., Certified Data Scientist, Certified Analytics Professional)
- Familiarity with Alteryx or similar data preparation and analytics tools

What you’ll be doing:
- End-to-end prototypes – turn ambiguous commercial questions into Python/SQL data apps running on BigQuery
- Streamlit / React dashboards – ship self-service tools for category managers, media buyers and e-commerce teams
- dbt modelling – build reusable marts (medallion / dimensional) and document lineage
- Workflow orchestration – deploy Airflow/Cloud Composer DAGs; add alerting, logging, cost controls
- Experimentation – instrument A/B tests and measure uplift for price-promo and shopper-journey features
- CI/CD & code quality – GitHub Actions, unit tests, data contracts; pair-review with senior engineers
- Stakeholder storytelling – demo results, explain trade-offs, and iterate based on feedback from marketing, supply-chain and finance partners

What we're looking for:
- 3 + yrs building analytics solutions on cloud data warehouses (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable with strong migration story)
- Fluent in Python & advanced SQL; able to profile queries and write test-driven dbt models.
- Hands-on with at least one app/dash framework (Streamlit, Dash, React, etc.)
- Experience scheduling production jobs (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster or similar) and monitoring SLAs
- Comfortable partnering with non-technical colleagues and iterating in agile sprints
