NIE invites suitable candidates to apply for the position of Systems Engineer in the Infrastructure & Database Department.

Responsibilities

• Support and Maintain Application Servers in all the three environments, Production, UAT and Development.
• Responsible for day-to-day administration tasks and routine maintenance of Oracle WebLogic, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), Apache Tomcat application servers and OutSystems Platform.
• Assist in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, contributing to process optimization and configuration management.
• Identify and resolve problems relating to critical service operations and to prevent their recurrence using different methods of automation.
• Be involved in the design and subsequent implementation of software and service infrastructure.
• Maintain the Middleware Administration standards, and operating procedures that is aligned to NIE Cyber Security & IT policy and procedures, and NIE IT Service Management Framework.
• Provide recommendation to management and stakeholders on the technology roadmap and Middleware integration with Enterprise and cloud systems.
  
  

• Minimally a Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 1 year of experience with Application Server Administration like Oracle WebLogic Server, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), Apache Tomcat, OutSystems Platform etc.
• Experience with automation/ integration tools like Jenkins and proficient in developing Continuous Integration/ Delivery pipelines.
• Experience in administering Java and J2EE technologies, and various configuration tools like GitHub, SVN, etc.
• Strong development/scripting experience (Python and Bash)
• Knowledge of using Puppet, or Chef, or any other configuration management tool.
• Knowledge of software containerization platforms and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker Swarm an added advantage.
• Certification in ITIL Foundation v3 will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attitude.
• Able to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.

3. Perform auto provisioning and scaling of servers, testing and compliance checks using automation tools.
4. Review and formulate backup strategy and policies to improve backup performance and system/data recovery to meet requirements.
5. Management of suppliers and contractors.
6. Continuously find means and ways to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly with various teams to provide quality service.
7. Review and adoption of relevant industry best practices for Government IT infrastructure.
8. Ensure that project implementation and operations are aligned to Government technology standards and policies.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

1. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in deploying, administering and management of complex or large IT infrastructure systems and services with strong knowledge in systems, backup solutions and hyper converge virtualisation platforms such as Veritas, Nutanix and VMWare.
2. Experience in deploying and managing IT infrastructure systems with configuration management tools such as vRO, Terraform, Ansible or Chef.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to influence and communicate effectively with non-technical audience and senior management.
4. Keep abreast of ICT technologies, skillsets and industry practices.
5. TIL V3 Foundation certified.
6. MCSE, minimally in MCSA.
7. Nutanix Certified Professional and/or VMware Certified Professional (VCP), minimally VCTA.
8. Possess professional certifications in any configuration management tools is helpful e.g. Chef or Terraform.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on, adaptable System Integration Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and deployment of mission-critical systems across defence, public security, and commercial projects.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure, and scalable integrated systems projects, both locally and overseas.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute end-to-end system integration activities, including setup, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
