+ Strong grounding in economics and technology policy.
**About the job**
With AI and digital technologies reshaping the global economy, the GAPP Economic Policy team leads Google's work to develop affirmative policy strategies for harnessing technology's economic and societal benefits and addressing economic risks. We assess how countries can develop policy environments that help attract investment and enable the diffusion of new technologies and highlight areas where miscalibrated tech policies can risk undermining engagement and economic growth.
We achieve these goals by working together across the company and with outside partners to build something that's greater than the sum of our parts - covering issues related to economics, labor, investment, tax, and trade, and connecting those issues to broader policy and regulatory debates.
In this role, you will work with teams in Asia-Pacific and emerging markets on developing economic strategies to advance Google's business priorities and support AI-enabled economic growth. You'll partner closely with local teams to develop economic arguments, analysis, reports, and narratives to help inform policymakers and support pro-innovation policy. You'll develop public policy proposals aimed at driving economic engagement, enabling infrastructure growth, and supporting AI development and adoption. You'll help local teams leverage economic and trade tools to defend the company against discriminatory tax and regulatory measures. You'll analyze legislation and policy proposals related to economic issues.
Through this role, you will leverage a strong understanding of economics, technology, and trade to help Google and government partners navigate a shifting economic environment. You'll provide advice to internal stakeholders on these issues, and you'll work closely with think tanks and other organizations to advance our economic policy objectives.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
**Responsibilities**
+ Work with teams in Asia-Pacific markets and emerging markets on developing economic strategies to advance Google's business priorities and support AI-enabled economic growth and engagement.
+ Partner with local teams to develop economic arguments, analysis, reports, and narratives to help inform policymakers and support pro-innovation policy.
+ Develop public policy proposals aimed at driving economic development, enabling infrastructure growth, and supporting AI development and adoption.
+ Help local teams leverage economic and trade tools to defend the company against misaligned tax and regulatory measures.
+ Work closely with think tanks and other organizations to advance Google's economic policy objectives. Analyze legislation and policy proposals related to economic issues.
