Job Description
Amazon Web Services' Hardware Engineering team is looking for experienced professionals to help build the world's premier cloud computing platform. We are looking for Principle Manufacturing Engineers who are capable of operating in a fast paced, ever changing, multi-platform international manufacturing and production environment. Our Principal Manufacturing Engineers work closely with our ODMs, CMs, internal AWS hardware and software development teams, and with upstream component vendors to monitor and improve the incoming hardware quality of AWS products both proactively in the design phase as well as monitoring, reporting and investigating any early-life product failures. This role requires the engineer to be a technical contact and take on full ownership of the manufacturing launch and resolution of process issues. You will be the driver in getting production up and running, understanding root cause of hardware failures and resolving gaps in our suppliers manufacturing processes. Further you will accomplish this both by directly making changes, and coaching other manufacturing engineers to deliver products quickly and at a high quality level.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering or other related technical degree
- Extensive experience in electronics manufacturing inclusive of some process engineering
- Experience in product development
- Experience in lean manufacturing implementation
- Experience conceptualizing, designing, assembling and debugging tools and fixtures
- Experience reducing cycle time and improving labor efficiency
- Experience in supplier component management
Preferred Qualifications
- Diverse experience across multiple roles within the electronics manufacturing and product development environment
- Experience with SMT and PCBA
- Six Sigma black belt
- Experience with Datacenter Operations

Your Role
Assess equipment & hardware demand requirements with technical validation.
Participate in equipment & hardware benchmark selection, budgeting, delivery, installation, acceptance, upgrading, and evolution. Define performance standards, procedures, and methodologies for maintenance. Support the subcontractor maintenance team in troubleshooting and escalations. Oversee start-up of new tools and focus on continuous improvement of equipment performance.
Manage equipment inventory and transfer movements to meet production demands.
Reconcile fixed equipment assets and manage decommissioning and disposal.
Provide technical support for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, training, spare parts replenishment, process improvement, and failure analysis. Resolve issues related to consignment equipment and tooling, including EWS probe cards, FT load boards, sockets, and burn-in boards at subcontractor (OSAT) production sites.
Manage projects related to continuous improvement policies and solutions at subcontractors, liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers on equipment utilization, efficiency, service, quality, and cost.
Collaborate with internal product divisions and subcontract manufacturing teams on production sustaining activities, yield analysis, and equipment repair and recovery during failures.
Lead technical changes related to equipment and manage associated production and quality risks.
Attend professional seminars and collaborate with internal key programs to benchmark and share best practices. Participate in global user meetings.
Support the implementation of equipment management policies and execute continuous improvement actions.
Your Skills & Experiences
Bachelor's degree in automation or electronics.
Experience with ATE, prober, handler, burn-in test equipment, and tooling, including load boards, change kits, sockets, troubleshooting, testing methodologies, and system integration.
Experience managing suppliers and subcontractors.
Background in final testing or burn-in testing within semiconductor manufacturing.
At least 3 years of experience in a semiconductor back-end manufacturing environment, preferably in final testing.
Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, especially final test & finishing.
Hands-on, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Team player with initiative, self-motivation, responsibility, and sense of urgency.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
