What will you do as a Senior Process Safety Engineer?
As a Senior Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with industrial processes to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. You will drive and support terminals in complying with the Process Safety Management (PSM) system as per Singapore’s Major Hazard Installation (MHI) regulations, and provide guidance on adherence to the organization’s Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Management Systems and corporate standards, while also supporting terminals in improving process and personnel safety management.

What do we expect from you as a Senior Process Safety Engineer?
- Minimum 8 years working experience in the oil, gas or petrochemical industry or familiarity with process safety management
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in process safety, with a strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety systems
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline such as Chemical Engineering / Safety Engineering / Safety, Health & Environmental related courses
- Expertise in process hazard analysis techniques, consequence modeling software (e.g., Phast,), and other relevant safety tools
- In-depth knowledge of relevant process safety regulations, codes, and industry standards
- Experience with process safety management (PSM) systems and relevant industry standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, API standards)
- Proficiency in conducting hazard analyses, such as HAZOP, LOPA, and fault tree analysis
- Excellent fluency in spoken and written English
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex safety issues, communication and interpersonal, ability to work independently and as part of a team
Your core responsibilities are:
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, and participate in audits and inspections
- Fluent with MOM’s safety acts and regulations
- Ensure governance of the Safety Case process by implementing and communicating the framework
- Maintain the terminals Safety Case, lead the submission & attain approval including facilitating Revision Plans (RPs) inclusion and following through on the closure of the Intervention Plans (IPs)
- Support process safety aspects in projects and commercial enquiries, when required
- Support and guide terminal teams to improve SHE performance to meet the organizations objectives
- Design and implement safety systems, procedures, and protocols to prevent incidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Provide technical expertise to various stakeholders, including management, engineering, and operations teams, on process safety issues
- Assist the SHE Manager to verify terminals’ compliance with process and personnel safety legal and corporate requirements
- Support and guide terminal teams to improve SHE performance to meet the organizations objectives
- Analyzing incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Conduct and lead process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and QRA to identify potential hazards and assess risks associated with industrial processes
- Ensure risks are As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)
- Develop mitigation strategies, implement mitigation measures
