Business Function:

Group Strategic Marketing & Communications is responsible for building, protecting, and enhancing the DBS brand in an increasingly commoditised banking industry. Working closely with all units within the DBS Group, we create and execute integrated strategies that focus on communications especially digital communications, marketing and research to differentiate - and elevate - our brand from the rest of the competition.

Job Purpose:

With an increased funding commitment from the Bank, DBS Foundation is embarking on a new direction that includes a significant expansion in the scope and scale of DBS Foundation initiatives. DBS Foundation will be focussed on supporting the underprivileged - through fostering financial inclusion and providing support on daily needs to this segment across all our core markets. And continues to champion businesses for impact that are creating innovative solutions to solve challenges related to these key areas.

This expansion requires the establishment of robust governance frameworks, structures, and processes to ensure effective deployment of these funds. We are seeking a highly skilled Governance Specialist to join the DBS Foundation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to guide the allocation and utilization of funds in alignment with the DBS Foundation's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Work with the Head of DBS Foundation and the DBSF Board / senior management to design governance structures that are focused on clarity, accountability, and integrity across all processes of DBSF
  • Establish clear guidelines for grant-making processes, including due diligence, evaluation criteria, and monitoring mechanisms to assess the impact of funded projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance on risk management practices, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to safeguard the Foundation's resources and reputation.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of governance initiatives, conducting periodic reviews and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and support to staff and partners on governance-related matters, fostering a culture of ethical conduct and responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Keep abreast with emerging trends and best practice in the areas of governance and the broad focus areas of DBS Foundation
  • Help in preparation of required reports and updates for DBSF Board / sub-committee / DBS senior management .
  • Leverage best practice and expertise from within and outside the Bank to drive the DBS Foundation agenda and make it stronger
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in developing and implementing governance frameworks within philanthropic organizations, preferably in the areas of financial inclusion or social impact.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and best practices in governance and ethics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and manage complex projects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build consensus around governance initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of driving organizational change and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the DBS Foundation, with a passion for driving positive social change.
  • Must be able to work independently in a lean team
