Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for leading specific research programmes in remote sensing technology and applications. They are expected to continuously enhance the scientific knowledge of the Centre and participate actively in remote sensing technology development and application projects. We are specifically looking for candadiates to lead the following projects:
1.
Monitoring Water Quality and Harmful Algal Blooms in Singapore Coastal
Waters with Multispectral and Hyperspectral Satellite
Data.
Experience and expertise in the following areas will be
advantageous:
* Theory and applications of ocean colour remote
sensing and ocean optics.
* Retrieval of water quality parameters
from in-situ and satellite data.
* In-situ measurements of sea
water optical properties.
* Radiative transfer simulations (e.g.
with Hydrolight code) of water reflectance.
* Atmospheric
correction of satellite data.
* Machine learning and artificial
intelligence techniques for remote sensing applications.
2.
Forest Biomass Estimation Using Spaceborne Polarimetric Synthetic
Aperture Radar Data.
Experience and expertise in the following
areas will be advantageous:
* Theory and applications of
polarimetric synthetic aperture radar.
* Estimation of forest
biomass from satellite data.
* Airborne, spaceborne Lidar for
vegetation studies.
* Regional land cover/vegetation/biomass
mapping.
* Land use and land cover change.
* Machine learning
and artificial intelligence techniques for remote sensing
applications.
- A Doctoral Degree in Science, Engineering, or in other relevant disciplines with research experience in remote sensing or related fields.
Other qualities we are looking for:
* Good
knowledge of advanced digital data/image processing techniques and
applications
* Experience and skill in scientific and engineering
computing
* Ability to develop and implement data/image processing
and/or machine learning algorithms
