Laboratory & Technical Services (Science & Technology)

As an Assistant Veterinary Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinary team by conducting diagnostic tests essential to the successful treatment of companion animals at our specialist hospital. 

Responsibilities include:

● Assist Veterinary Laboratory technician in preparing specimens for internal and external analysis and maintaining proper documentation of test results. 

● Performing diagnostic tests such as haematology, blood chemistry analysis and urinalysis. 

● Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results. 

● Collaborating with veterinarians and other team members to monitor, record, report and analyse data from laboratory tests. 

● Adhering to laboratory safety protocols, following sanitation standards and maintaining a clean, organised work environment. 

● Filing documents and managing inventory; keeping track of lab stocks. 

● Investigating new avenues for collaboration with overseas and local laboratories, educational institutions and government/private entities. 

● During down time to assist with our in-house pharmacist in processing and dispensing medication to our patients. 

● Occasionally, to assist in compounding medications and maintain proper inventory control of pharmaceuticals and supplies to ensure stock availability. 

● To participate in quality assurance initiatives to uphold the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and patient safety.

What does it take? 

● Minimum Diploma in veterinary nursing/tech, biomedical science, laboratory medicine, life sciences, or related field. 

● Prior experience working in a clinic or veterinary laboratory setting is advantageous. ● Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. 

● Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. ● Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. 

● Passion for animal health and dedication to providing high-quality care.
