RoleSummary

As the Assistant General Manager, you will report directly to the COO and act as a key strategic partner in leading daily operations, driving profitability, and ensuring high-quality output. You will bridge the gap between upper management and the production, sales, and logistics teams to optimize productivity and enforce strict safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1.Operational Oversight & Production Management

·    Oversee manufacturing and maintenance of reinforcement steel fabrication processes, Infrastructure Services and Slag Operations to ensure productivity and effectiveness of these operations.

·    Monitor production metrics (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles.

·    Ensure all fabricated steel meets local quality standards and structural specifications.

·    Manage raw material inventory, optimize resource allocation, and reduce production waste.

2.Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance

·    Enforce Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations across the manufacturing facility and delivery yards.

·    Conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks.

·    Maintain a zero-incident safety culture among all factory and logistics personnel.

3.Business Development & Stakeholder Management

·    Collaborate with sales and project teams to secure major construction orders and align supply schedules with project timelines.

·    Build and maintain strategic relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and key clients across Singapore.

4.Financial & Budgetary Control

·    Assist COO in preparing the annual business unit budget and financial planning.

·    Monitor operating expenses, manage cost-reduction strategies, and maximize operational profitability.

5.Team Leadership & Talent Development

·    Lead, mentor, and evaluate the performance of department heads, supervisors, and engineering staff.

·    Assist in workforce planning, recruitment, and training programs to upskill the production team.

·    Foster a positive workplace culture and resolve operational bottlenecks quickly.

• Ensuring that the servicing and maintaining of the machines through corrective and preventive maintenance are carried out effectively and as per plan
• Lead a team of technicians to troubleshoot, analyze issues, resolve equipment breakdown safely and identify the root cause to prevent recurrence
• Ensuring the in-stock parts quantity are sufficient and kept to ideal levels by monitoring spare parts consumption and replenishing stocks when low by raising purchase requisitions
• Sustaining and improving safety in the work area by ensuring the workplace and practices complies with safety requirements, while identifying and implementing safety improvements
• Identify, propose, implement, and/or support improvement projects such as 5S, installation of new machines, machines shifting, overhauling or upgrading for improved machine performance / ease of maintenance
• Perform task related to maintenance as assigned

Job Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in maintenance within heavy industries (e.g., manufacturing).
• Fresh graduates with relevant electrical/mechanical engineering qualifications are encouraged to apply.
• Hands-on experience with PLC systems, AC/DC motors, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints.
• Experience in team and vendor coordination, ensuring smooth operations and maintenance support.
• Strong knowledge of safety compliance, including Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) regulations, industrial safety standards, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Bilingual proficiency in English & Mandarin (both written and spoken) is essential for translating technical documents and liaising with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
• Responsible, proactive, and resourceful with strong problem-solving skills.
• Team player with excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform corrective/preventive maintenance on machinery/equipment to ensure optimum operating conditions
• Perform checks, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on all machinery and equipment
• Perform machine and equipment installation and fitting works
• Perform gas cutting and welding works
• Monitor spare parts inventory and provide updates to the engineer
• Update and collaborate with the engineer on planning for any major equipment issues
• Update breakdown reports in the Computerised Maintenance Management System
• Ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed at all times
• Assist in root cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve machine reliability
• Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures, checklists, and standard work instructions
• Support equipment modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, productivity, and maintainability
• Perform other maintenance-related tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Higher NITEC/ Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronic, electronic and any engineering field
• Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance in heavy industries
• Proficiency in welding and gas cutting; hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLC systems, AC/DC motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Ability to read and interpret schematic diagram, drawings, and blueprints
• Strong knowledge of safety compliance, including Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) regulations, industrial safety standards, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken) is essential for preparing accurate daily technical reports, translating equipment documents, and liaising with Chinese-speaking stakeholders
• Willingness and ability to work on rotating shifts and rostered schedules

• Carry out installation and commissioning activities

• Conduct evaluation on site equipment and machineries related to mechanical electrical inspection

• Perform task related to maintenance as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Higher NITEC / Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or any engineering-related field
• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in heavy industries
• Proficiency in welding and gas cutting
• Hands-on experience and knowledge of PLCs and electrical components
• Exposure to the installation and commissioning of machinery and equipment is an added advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
• Strong knowledge of safety compliance, including Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) regulations, industrial safety standards, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken) is essential for preparing accurate daily technical reports, translating equipment documents, and liaising with Chinese-speaking stakeholders

Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure smooth operations.

Supervise troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues and carry out repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on production equipment and tools.

Assist in equipment installation, testing, and maintenance documentation as required.

Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain proper housekeeping standards within the work area.

• Develop and maintain project schedules for rebar work, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
• Prepare rebar shop drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS), detailing quantities, types, and requirements for reinforcing bars.
• Determine quantities, shapes, sizes, and locations of rebar based on structural drawings.
• Simplify rebar shapes to increase rebar production productivity and ease of rebar installation with sufficient tolerances.
• Reduce the number of shape codes.

• Order and manage rebar materials, ensuring timely delivery and availability at the site.
• Monitor material wastage and implement measures to minimize it.
• Prepare bar bending schedules (BBS) and material requirements for rebar installation.
• Reduce rebar scheduling errors.
